Leaving Your Legacy

Leaving your Legacy

"If someone who has worldly means sees a brother in need
and refuses him compassion, how can the love of God remain in him? Children, let us love not in word or speech but in deed and truth."
– 1 John 3:17-18

"I want to give back to an Agency that has done so much for
the community of Denver and its poor, sick elderly people!"

– Claire McDonald,RN, Denver

"It gives me a chance to give to the Agency. I can’t support
them while I am alive, but my money will be able to support them longer after I am gone."
– Name withheld, Denver

These three quotes express very compelling words for others to donate to Dominican Sisters Home Health Agency of Denver, Inc. Our Agency continues to exist because of the goodwill of individual donors, local foundations, socially responsible corporations, as well as bequest or planned giving donors. The Agency has provided care and services to the Denver community for over 89 years and will continue into the future as a result of generous and loyal donors to this mission – donors like you!

Ways you can partner with Dominican Sisters Home Health Agency (DSHHA) and help serve the poor, sick and elderly of Metro Denver include:

Outright Gifts:

  • Cash delivered to the Agency
  • Check payable to Dominican Sister Home Health Agency or DSHHA
  • Online through this website. DSHHA partners with "GivingFirst.org", the online giving tool of Community First Foundation. Since the foundation pays the entire credit card processing fee (3-5% of the donation), you are assured that 100% of your donation will go directly to DSHHA to continue our vital work with the poor, sick and elderly of Metro Denver.

By clicking on the green Donate Now through GivingFirst.org button on any page of this website – you can immediately make your online donation. Please note that your credit card statement will read "Community First Foundation" and you will receive a donation receipt letter from them for your taxes. However, be assured that the money will go to DSHHA and you will receive a thank you letter from us, as well.
  • Our Agency’s Donation Envelope that is incorporated with our various mailings throughout the year.
  • With a memorial donation you can donate on behalf of the person who has passed away or donate as a means to honor a special birthday, anniversary, or holiday!

Planned Giving Gifts:

Will or Living Trust—many people seem to think that they don’t need a Will because their "estate isn’t that big." But this confuses a very important issue. Without a will, the State of Colorado will distribute your assets according to intestacy laws regardless of whether it is taxable or non taxable by the government. A Will is your opportunity to decide how your assets will be distributed. Others believe that a Will is permanent but it can be classified as ‘revocable’ ---and can be changed by the person, as needed. Everyone should have a valid Will or Living Trust in place. Also, it does not always need to be constructed by an attorney—which is what many people think..

Charitable Planned Giving – by naming Dominican Sisters Home Health Agency (DSHHA) in your Will or Living Trust, you create a gift today that we receive only when your estate is settled.

  • If you would like to make a flexible estate gift to DSHHA, a simple way is to name us in your Will, Living Trust or as an Amendment or Codicil to an existing Will. Explain that you would like to include DSHHA for a specific dollar amount or as percentage of your remaining estate.
